Can I Continue My Current GLP-1 Dose Without Starting Over?

Yes, you can request to continue your current semaglutide or tirzepatide dose when joining Ondra Health. You do not automatically have to begin at the first dose simply because you are changing providers. A licensed provider will review your treatment history, how recently you used the medication, and how you tolerated it before deciding whether the requested dose is appropriate.

Quick answer

You may request the same dose during Ondra's intake. Selecting “Same dose” tells the provider that you want to remain at the dose you entered.

Upload a current prescription, vial label, or medication record showing your name, medication, and prescribed dose.

Include your exact last injection date and any side effects. The provider makes the final prescribing decision.

How do I request my current dose?

Complete the Ondra Health online intake and enter your current medication and dose accurately. If the intake offers a choice between “Same dose” and “Increase,” choose “Same dose” when you want the provider to consider maintaining the dose you are taking now. “Increase” is a request for a higher dose or titration plan, not a way to confirm your current dose.

Upload documentation that connects the dose to you, such as a prescription or vial label with your name and dose. In the additional information field, include the date of your most recent injection, how long you have been taking the medication, any side effects or allergic reactions, and anything else the provider should know. If your dose is unusual or the intake choices do not match your prescription, state the exact prescribed dose in that field rather than guessing.

Does my old prescription transfer to Ondra?

No. Your current prescription helps document your treatment history, but it is not transferred directly. A licensed provider must review your Ondra intake and, if treatment is appropriate, issue a new prescription. The dose you request in the intake is not an approved prescription.

What if I have missed doses or taken a break?

Tell the provider the exact date of your last injection. The length of a treatment gap, your previous dose, and any side effects can affect the plan the provider recommends. A longer break may lead the provider to choose a lower dose or a new titration schedule. Do not resume an old dose or change your injection schedule on your own while waiting for review.

If the intake asks whether you used a GLP-1 medication in the past two months, answer using your actual last injection date. Even if the intake routes you to a starting plan, include your prior medication and dose in the additional information field so the provider has the full history.

What if my previous dose is listed in units or milliliters?

Share the full prescription or vial label. Milligrams describe the amount of medication; milliliters and syringe units describe liquid volume. That volume can represent a different medication dose when the concentration changes. The FDA has reported dosing errors with compounded GLP-1 injections involving varying concentrations and confusion between milligrams, milliliters, and units. Do not convert your old syringe instructions for a new vial yourself. Follow only the new prescription and pharmacy label, and ask the provider or dispensing pharmacy to clarify anything you do not understand.

What happens after I submit my request?

A licensed provider reviews your intake and documentation. They may approve the requested dose, recommend a different dose or schedule, ask for more information, or decide treatment is not appropriate. If you are already an Ondra patient and have a question about resuming or changing your dose, message the provider through the patient portal before taking another injection.

Frequently asked questions

Can I request the same dose I take with another provider?

Yes. Enter your current medication and dose, select “Same dose” when that option applies, and upload documentation showing your name and dose. A licensed provider decides whether to prescribe it.

What if I no longer have my vial?

Check your prior patient portal, prescription label, medication record, or order history for a document showing your name, medication, and dose. The provider may need that documentation before considering a continuation request.

Will I have to start over after a break?

There is no answer that fits everyone. Give the exact last injection date and your treatment history. The licensed provider will decide whether continuing, lowering the dose, or beginning a new titration plan is appropriate.

This article is for general information and does not provide medical advice or confirm that any dose is safe or appropriate for you. A licensed provider makes all prescribing decisions. Ondra Health offers compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, which are not FDA-approved and have not undergone FDA review for safety, effectiveness, or quality before marketing. Compounded products are not therapeutically equivalent to FDA-approved brand-name medications.
